Memorial Hospice and Home Care is recognized as a We Honor Veterans Partner
To help provide care and support that reflects the important contributions made by the courageous men and women in our armed forces, Memorial Home Health and Hospice has become a national partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering campaign developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Over 25 percent of those who die every year in the U.S. are veterans. The nation is seeing many of the veterans who served in World War II and Korean pass away-and the number of deaths of Vietnam veterans is beginning to rise. These veterans often have unique needs and circumstances.
Through We Honor Veterans, Memorial Hospice professionals and volunteers have received specialized tools to help them focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of our honored veteran's service. Memorial Hospice recognizes the unique needs of America's veterans and their families, and can accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.
Memorial Hospice provides support through the following efforts:
Memorial Hospice is also able to help families find tools and assistance to support specific needs related to each veteran's military service, combat experience or other traumatic events.
Through our Hospice volunteer program, we are also fortunate to have veterans willing to donate their time and efforts to offer fellow soldiers support, peace and understand through their final days. They can provide a level of comfort that only comes from someone who truly understands the sacrifice given for our country.
We welcome referrals and requests for information from prospective clients and their families, as well as physicians, nurses, social workers and other community members.
